Day 12 – Framing the foundation

July 2, 2010

July 1, 2010 – Framing of the foundation started today, and things are really starting to take shape. Still, just frames and dirt – no concrete – but it’s something solid. We can actually imagine the rest of it now. Cool. It seems very real now – as if a giant pit and backhoe in the yard wasn’t real, I know…

Insulation?

Is that pink insulation?

Taking you back a few days – that “old” door that is on our exterior wall? Well, it looks like the workers knocked a piece of our siding off and uncovered a bit of insulation on the inside. See, that’s really weird because to our knowledge, no other part of our house has insulation, unless we’ve put it there. Why is part insulated? Did the people who took out the old door insulate the opening? And if so, how long ago? I wouldn’t think pink insulation was made previous to the 60’s or 70’s, but I could be wrong. Just weird, that’s all.

Below are two views of the framing of the foundation. Note the red string outlining the foundation away from the house.
