Day 24 – Concrete poured

July 14, 2010

The wall next to the house with bracing

July 13, 2010 – The forms, which had final touches done to them this morning, were filled with concrete. By early afternoon, the work was finished. All-in-all, it’s about what’s you’d expect it to look like: lot’s o’ concrete.

As we’ve touched on in prior posts, our basement walls would be susceptible to cracking with the weight of the curing concrete outside, so those were braced with an interesting network of  vertical and horizontal braces.

I’m not quite sure how long the curing takes. It’s a tall wall in places, and while our footings took about 24 hours to set, these could take longer. We’ll see if anyone shows tomorrow – check the web cam!
