Dirty statistics

May 25, 2011

I thought I’d compile these stats on exactly how much digging we had to do to put in our sewer line. Keep in mind, we had a trencher but the bulk of work was done by hand.

We moved a total of 450 cubic feet of dirt, this is about the size of the interior of a 12 foot Penske truck. Of this, we dug by hand 394 cubic feet while the trencher moved 56 cubic feet.

The dirt weighed a total of 54,000 pounds. That’s  27 tons of dirt, not taking into account most of it was wet.
