Day 566 – The light at the end of the tunnel…

January 14, 2012

January 14, 2012-

It’s a new year, and we’re starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel on our project. Okay, so the tunnel you see in the picture above is actually the view down our new 6″ vent pipe for our first floor bath, but at least there’s no train at the end of that tunnel. A fan maybe, someday soon! We’ve taken some time for the holidays, and are now eagerly back at work…where it’s warm(er). Inside.

The venting for our bath – but upstairs and down – is the project of the moment. It’s all related to our mechanical permit, which also includes the heating and associated ducts. That permit is next up for inspection, which needs to happen prior to January 25! The heating and ducting was done awhile ago, so we’re just now wrapping up the mechanical with install of the bath fan ducts.

Also, big news is that we’re getting electrical underway. Yes, wires in our new addition! Power! Heat! Comfort! Wait…I’m getting ahead of myself there, they’re just wires for now, and not yet hooked up to anything. So far we have the first floor 3/4 done, with first floor bath and whole upstairs remaining. We hope to be wrapping that up in a week or so. Then, we can have that inspected and move on to insulation, and stop the massive cold suck on our house. Brrr!
